Lady Gaga Splits From Manager Troy Carter Due to Creative Differences


Lady Gaga's romance with Taylor Kinney may not be over, but her relationship with longtime manager Troy Carter has ended. Multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly that the 27-year-old singer and 40-year-old music manager have parted ways due to "creative differences."

"It's sad but also liberating at the same time," a source close to both tells Us of the split. "One door closes and another opens." Carter helped launch the pop star's career after signing her in 2007. In 2011, he received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special for his work on the HBO special Lady Gaga Presents the Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden.

At the YouTube Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 3, Gaga squashed a new report that she and her boyfriend of two years, Kinney, had split by piling on the PDA. A video of the "Applause" singer kissing the 32-year-old actor backstage at the show was posted on Instagram. The two first met in July 2011 after Kinney appeared in the singer's "You And I" music video. They started dating several months later, briefly split in May 2012, and got back together the following month.

Though she appeared to be happily in love backstage, Gaga gave a bizarre, tearful performance of her latest single "Dope" onstage. The Los Angeles Times called the singer's 3-minute act on the live-streamed show "deeply strange and out-of-tune." Gaga performed in a flannel shirt, no shoes and fake, decaying teeth while silently crying. The L.A. Times reports that more than 4,000 viewers exited out of their browsers during the singer's performance.
